The Great Wildebeest Migration is one of the most magnificent wildlife events on Earth. Over 1.5 million wildebeests, zebras, and antelopes travel across the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem. Planning your trip requires understanding their seasonal patterns:
December to March (Calving Season)
The herds settle in the southern Serengeti and Ngorongoro conservation areas. February is particularly special as thousands of calves are born daily, attracting predators.
July to October (Mara River Crossings)
This is the most dramatic phase. The herds head north and cross the crocodile-infested Mara River. Patience is required, but the spectacle is unforgettable.
